CarePath Framework Tenets
- Focus on preventing serious injuries and fatalities (SIF) through critical riskmanagement: We prioritize the identification, understanding, and control of critical risks that have the potential to result in serious injuries or fatalities. Through teamwork, operational learning, and proactive risk assessment, we strengthen controls and verify their effectiveness in real work conditions.
- Design out risk and environmental impact at thesource: We integrate safety and environmental stewardship into the design and execution of our processes. We minimize waste, emissions, and resource consumption by focusing on elimination, substitution, and efficient use of materials and energy, while continuing to address legacy impacts from past practices.
- Learn from work as done to improve system performance: We continuously study how work isactually performed to understand variability, adaptations, and success factors. Using assessments, field engagement, and feedback loops, we improve system capacity, enhance efficiency, and reduce exposure to health, safety, and environmental risks across the lifecycle of our activities.
- Build resilient systems thatanticipate, withstand, and recover from disruptions: We protect our people, facilities, and operations by strengthening our ability to anticipate and respond to both expected and unexpected events. We emphasize preparedness, rapid reporting of events and weak signals (including close calls), and timely learning-focused follow-up to improve system resilience.
- Enable and expect active participation and ownership at all levels: We empower all employees to contribute to safe and reliable operations by recognizingexpertise in the field, encouraging speaking up, and fostering collaboration. We openly share performance insights and partner with stakeholders to continuously improve outcomes.
- Encourage reporting to learn, not to blame: We promote a culture where employees freely report hazards, system weaknesses, and observations. Reporting is used to strengthen understanding of risk and improve controls—not to assign blame. Leaders are accountable for responding, learning, and acting on this information.
